Do you want to be a journalist? Would you like to be in advertising thinking up the next big commercial? In order for students to continue their education in the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication, they must complete certain classes to progress towards graduation and their future. After learning about the progression of media in Introduction to Mass Communications, you will be able to enroll in Writing for the Mass Media.
Writing for the Mass Media is a course to assist future writers in their ability to convey messages and news at a professional level. Writing for the Mass Media is a challenging course that will teach the students how to write factual information, be critical of what they write, and how to develop their writing skills in order to be able to communicate in different media outlets once in the profession. Students will also learn about the different aspects of how to communicate their message in a changing media world.
A lecture portion in the course will help students learn about common mistakes and how to prevent those same mistakes in the students’ writing. The help of a writing coach in lab will also become valuable in developing strong writing techniques. At the end of Writing for the Mass Media, the Gaylord College of Journalism allows you to pursue your field of interest and do it in confidence.
Some of the above information has been paraphrased from the Writing for the Mass Media Fall 2009 Syllabus, written by Kathryn Jenson White.
