JMC 2033 supplements JMC 1013, “in which you learned the history and present situation of all media formats” (White 1). Because mass media are a non-static environment, JMC 2033 will expand your ability to write, gather information, and help you attain professional skills necessary to communicate to your audiences effectively, regardless of which professional major you plan to become (White 1).
Since writing and communicating with others is the foundation of mass media, many of you will exercise your writing skills in your lab. During lab sessions, your writing coach will guide you through and help you evolve in your writing and media literacy. You will not only learn how to write in different formats, but also learn how to use images to project your messages to your audiences (White 6).
JMC 2033 is a required class for all JMC students; “media outlets shrink the size of their staffs,” so make sure you work hard and set high standards for yourself in order for you to be in one of these groups (White 8). If you persevere and meet all standards expected of you, you will leave JMC 2033 with the foundation and sufficient skills that you will use for the rest of your career!
