“In this class, you will work to develop your writing skills and to make yourself a more effective communicator with words.” This class is not a elective, you must have taken JMC 1013, and once you have finished that you are ready to begin to learn about all the adventures of Writing for Mass Media!
This class is not only a journalism class, but it is also a tool that all multimedia majors can take into their professional careers. No matter what profession you are in, you have to communicate. With this class you will learn to communicate not only with speech but also with writing and words as well.
“This class is primarily an information gathering and writing course.” You can sum up the main objectives of it into seven key points:
1. Improve your writing
2. Understand the specific conventions of writing for mass media/ multimedia outlets
3. Understand the core values of your professions
4. Build media literacy
5. Practice various types of media writing
6. Develop professional skills
7. Begin to define your interest
Attendance is an important part of this class. You will have a lecture, in which there will be approximately 165 students. There will also be a lab class, this is a smaller class where you can ask questions and have a one on one connection with the students and professor.
There is a lot of work and you must keep up. Your teachers are here to help you, so use them. Good luck!
