Blog – diversity and news values
The Freedom Forum is a nonpartisan organization, which is dedicated to freedom of expression for all people of the United States. It is important to news media and future journalists like myself, because it can provide information and education for me as I begin to discuss diversity. The foundation has three priorities: the Newseum, the First Amendment and newsroom diversity.
The Freedom Forum Newseum of news in D.C., which includes multiple exhibits and theatre productions that educate people with important news history, along with people places and time of worthy news stories. Another way that the FF enlightens people is through tours and learning centers for all ages and types of people. From children’s activities to resources and seminars for teachers, your sure to find something at this interactive museum that you will use in any media occupation and will be beneficial in understanding news values. This website is important to media because it discusses discrimination in our generation long after the civil rights movement has ended. Discrimination often results in political debates within our nation, and divides Americans in many aspects of life; including the workplace, schools, sports and much more.
This is important to my future career and me because diversity is always going to be a hot topic in professional and news value. Every person needs to know his or her boundaries and strategies to use to avoid offending someone who is diverse or different in someway.
