The National Association of Hispanic Journalists website has a purpose to make Hispanics noticed within journalism. It is a website devoted to diversity within this particular field in efforts for them to stand out and be included into the U.S. newsrooms.
This website has many connections for anyone to get involved including a job search. When opening up the Career Center page, it mentions that anyone can be a member and whatever race that person may be, there is no discrimination. This website is open up to the public, meaning any person with a different ethic background is free to explore the website and find a career in journalism.
A donation link is also present on this website, allowing anyone to donate money to help out the association. The National Association of Hispanic Journalists wants to get the word out to the public in efforts to become included more into the journalist community, and the donation link is aiding their cause.
Another way this website reaches out to the public is by the Newsroom Diversity section which has statistics of Hispanics working in the media throughout the different years. Along with the statistics, there are press releases viewers can take a look at. A title of one of the press releases reads “NAHJ Fruserated by Lack of Significant Growth in Newsroom Diversity.” This section benefits viewers outside of the association, allowing them to formulate a better understanding of the diversity in journalism and how it can either hinder or promote acceptance in the newsroom.
