Using language with sensitivity and respect for those of different cultures and communities is quite a challenge for many. For me, it is difficult to know what is disrespectful to someone of another culture. People from communities different from mine may have cultural rules of which I am unaware. Because of this, it is a challenge to not seem ignorant. If I don’t understand the cultural differences, it is difficult to convey correct information to my audience without sounding narrow-minded. It is my job to be sensitive to any and all culture differences. My ultimate goal is to inform the reader, but to do so with respect to all parties involved.
