A big challenge for me writing journalistically is getting away from the academic style. I am used to writing four to five paragraphs of ten sentences or more. Now, I have to shift into one to three paragraphs of one to three sentences each. Also, I have to remember to use the stylebook. With academic writing, I was able to write using the words the way that I thought was correct. Now, I actually have to check the words to make sure they are correct. It is difficult for me to switch because I have to learn a new style again.
