Using language with sensitivity and respect isn’t difficult for me right now. However, I know that we are not educated or brought up the same. Therefore, we are not going to speak the same way.

Reading Padgett, I have learned words I’ve never known before. I’ve read terms about my own race that I never knew existed, which could be because I was taught not to speak that way. I am going to take the time to learn these rules, because if I am going to be a writer, I need to know what is and is not acceptable.
