Throughout high school, all the English classes I took trained me to write academic papers. I don't think I have ever written a paper in AP style, which is why some of the rules are new to me. During my senior year, I was fortunate enough to have a teacher who made us strictly follow grammar rules. I suppose it is to my advantage and also to my disadvantage that I stress over mechanics and grammar. Regardless, I am thankful that she taught me everything I know; otherwise, I would have an even greater difficulty in this class. So far, I've known most of the grammar rules I have been studying in this class.
