Native American Journalists Association

Amy Gordon

The NAJA represents diversity in its site very professionally. The organization not only has information about Native Americans and what the organization does, but it also has information about different organizations in the journalism community. NAJA posts on its website job opportunities that come available. The majority of these jobs are very diverse. They may only be for the people in the organization, but the jobs are allowing the people to apply for them. The organization has a section on the site that says media links. Within these links are reference sites to the gay and lesbian communities. It also, has a link for a Guideline that counteracts racial, ethnic, and religious profiling. It even posts scholarship opportunities and internships that different locations are offering. Currently, NBC is offering them two internships that the students would be involved in during every summer until they graduate college.

The NAJA offers different programs for different types of people. They have several different programs for students. They have a program that teaches high school students different aspects of journalism and they produce their own newspaper.

The tone of the website is not very diverse. It seems that the website is strictly for the members of NAJA only. In order to be apart of this site, you must be a Native American Journalist. It offers different membership prices for the type of member that one may want to be. It is a non-profit organization and they do take donations. They will however, take donations from anyone.
