One challenge I face when writing with sensitivity and respect towards other cultures and communities is trying not to offend the readers. Most of the time when I am writing about different cultures and communities I do not do enough research. In an Edition of the Oklahoma Daily there was an article about a white male going to an African-American restaurant and was afraid of getting shot. If he had a deeper understanding of African-Americans he would not have felt this way. This was neither culturally sensitive nor respectful. Writes should be aware of who will be reading their articles.
